It is believed in African traditions that people of African descent own and embody the element
of water. Because of this, African Water Guardians & Spirits were held in high regard.
Kemites believe in one God, which in Kemetic tradition is called Netcher (NTR). Knowing that
NTR is comprised of male and female energies, and that NTR is multifaceted, Kemites
believe that NTR has many faces or personalities (NTRU). All of these facets are considered
to be indwelling -- existing within all of us (God is of us because we are of God). As we come
to know the NTRU we come to know ourselves better. As we unlock the mystery of the
energies without we unlock the inner mysteries.
Kemites believe that all of the elements -- air, fire, water, earth, ether -- are also energies that
are of NTR and indwelling. These are also expressed through specific African Guardians and
Spirits.
Africans, as well as many other indigenous peoples, believe that each racial grouping has a
specific elemental vibration that defines its attributes. Common belief is that the Caucasian
element is fire, Asian element is air, Native American element is earth, and people of African
descent vibe with water.
The Power of Water
Water, considered to be the strongest element, is powerful and gentle. Water currents can
sustain or kill. It's fluidity allows for water to adapt to endless circumstances. It's mutability
allows it to change form, yet never truly disappear. Whether morning dew, steam, humidity,
refreshing rain, river currents, or tidal waves, water always makes its presence felt,
influencing all it comes in contact with. Without water, the body begins to deteriorate internally
and externally, inviting disease. Humans can live for up to several weeks without food, but
only up to a week without water. Human bodies are comprised of approximately 75% water.
After a 20% loss of water in the body a painful death process begins. Ingesting too much
water can cause a person to drown internally.
The attributes of the water vibration have allowed Black people to survive and thrive. Our
cultural influence has set the worldwide standard since the beginning of time. If all
African-based influences via culture, inventions, and truly, the blood, sweat, and tears that
built empires for ourselves and others, were withdrawn, the world would collapse.
On the other hand, consider the fact that water attributes can be negatively influenced
because of the aspect of the element's receptivity. Anger and depression can be enhanced.
Mass media is directed to the Black community encouraging our financial resources to be
utilized outside of the community and misspent on expensive, unnecessary big ticket items.
Many Brothers and Sisters are unaware that their waters have become polluted and stagnant.
The Call of the Water Priest
All African global communities have local spiritual leaders who hold the responsibility of
raising and maintaining morality, spiritual integrity, and hope. The Water shaman, priest, or
priestess helps direct the positive energy flow of the community. They hold and shapeshift the
energy for their people.
To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Expected
Water energy is the most heavy of all of the elements. There are certainly bubbling springs,
dancing tributaries, sprinkles of rain...but think of the ocean depths, where it is dark,
mysterious, and crushing due to the pressure. The deep wisdom secrets of life are found at
the ocean's floor. Water Spirits pull the initiate into the unseen watery realm to feed him/her
wisdom, then safely return the initiated healer to the surface to begin his/her new path as a
shaman. To be a healer, priest, or priestess in the Water tradition bespeaks a character of
unassuming, oft underestimated strength. The Water healer knows the etheric joys of heaven
and the maddening depths of hell.

* LOVES WATER!
Water is an enhancing energy, bringing out the best or worst of a person or situation. Your
heart (true intention) is always eventually brought to light when around a water person. We
always end up seeing the ugly crap of a person or situation whether we want to or not! But
even that has a purpose, for healing cannot happen without knowing the truth of a situation.
Whether the healing lesson is yours, the person's, or both, it is up to each individual to live up
to the best of themselves to deal with it. Does this person's meanness indicate that he/she
doesn't have your best interest at heart, calling you to stay away? Will the individual realize
he/she has erred, and work to change his character flaws? Will the person go into defensive
denial? The opportunity for bettering the situation has opened. Either way, know that the path
of bridge building is not always warm and fuzzy. Often to get to peace one must expose and
eradicate the crap, then work to reset balance. That takes a true warrior.
TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN: A WARNING (LIVING OUTSIDE OF YOUR PURPOSE)
Water People who refuse to give in to their true sensitive natures live at war within
themselves, thereby inviting chaos into their lives. As stated earlier, when the Water Spirits
imbue an individual with countless gifts he/she is expected to live up to the best of
him/herself. It is considered folly to laugh a Water Spirit blessing in the face. Insulted and/or
abused Water Spirits will wrap themselves up in a huge storm cloud and leave a once
abundant water source in an arid state. To betray a Water Spirit or a person who carries Water
Spirit energy means to expect a sudden loss of your gifts.
I have seen Water healers lose material abundance, their healing abilities, their sanity. I have
also seen Water healers become a slave to addictions.
It is not wise for Water people to indulge in intoxicants. We are born with the ability to tap into
other realms at will. It is a divine gift which takes honing. Do know that any spirit that requires
you to take a toke or a taste in order to keep your connection to it is not considered to be a
highly evolved spirit. It doesn't take much for Water People to become addicted, which only
serves to feed the lower spirit riding the healer. Spiraling further away from the positive Water
Person qualities, the healer becomes a shell of him/herself, causing unnecessary pain to be
left in his wake. After all, poisoned, polluted water is harmful to a community. Many African
beliefs state that those who are impure or of malicious intent cannot approach a water source
for they will be snatched into the water, never to be seen or heard again, or they will turn up on
the shore dead.
Always remember the conviction of your mission as a community vessel for healing. As such,
you have an expected accountability to your people, the Ancestral Water Spirits of Light, and to
NTR.
Ancestral Water Customs
It was common practice amongst our Ancestors held captive in the U.S. to be buried with
their feet facing a body of water so the Water Spirits would take them back home to
The Motherland. They were highly reverential around water sources in deference to their
protective spirits. Putting a pan of water under the bed for clear dreams is still practiced today,
along with the original Kemetic tradition of pouring libation to honor those who have
transitioned from this life.
Conclusion
Let us, as a Global Black Community, reclaim our power through the powerful water energy
we are blessed with. We can no longer continue conducting ourselves as individual droplets.
A torrent creates and enhances huge bodies of water. Unified (as "The One") we are a deep,
forceful ocean that can turn the tide.
